Also, in the world today, there is some obsession over the media. This publicity for celebrities often gets them more money, bad or good, fake or true. Should they be paid less? The easy answer is yes and no because celebrities is a very large group made up of individuals, some of whom receive more than others for good reasons and some for bad reasons.

Example: Tiger Woods earns a lot by «playing» golf and by endorsing products. He may be the best there is at what he does and so certainly deserves high income. I’m sure we all know of celebrities with dubious talents beyond shock value who also earn a lot. Their ability to do so is a comment on our society and a credit to their ability to «play» that society for all it’s worth.

If you approach the question from some kind of moral standpoint it may be said that society is valuing paying for the wrong things and in the wrong amounts. As you say, there are doctors serving poor communities and earning small financial rewards, but they may also be earning psychological benefits from stepping in to fill vital needs.
